King Arthur, or, Merlin : the British inchanter. [1736]

A copy of the 1736 adaptation of John Dryden and Henry Purcell's King Arthur, with a presentation inscription to Queen Caroline from actor and theater manager Henry Giffard. The volume also contains two original drawings by artist John Devoto, who designed the scenes used during Giffard's actual production. Playbills for two 1842 performances of the play at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane are inserted at the end of the volume.
